I have experienced discrimination, and some abuse. It isn't fair. I am a good person, and I stand in God's Light as much as I can. Why should I be abused for my age. It makes no sense!! My parents also abused me. Elder abuse happens from abusive people, not randomly. I believe that abuse is the most devastating thing to happen to a human being because I've seen it wreck 3 generations in my family. Please, let's change this trend. Mimi Cerruti My mother was unjustly placed into conservatorship due to lies and false allegations. She spent 8 months under conservatorship, and during that time, she was forced to court on seven separate occasions. My mother, as all conservatees, was mandated by the court to pay all attorneys fees (there were seven in all). My mother was 85 years old at the time and was fighting a very serious health concern. No one cared, including the court, as the lawyers continued their litany of lies against her. The court ordered my mother to obey all rules and dictates from her conservator or she would face jail time, monetary fines or both. TO AN 85 YEAR OLD WOMAN . After eight months of torture from the court, the lawyers and her conservator, my mother could no longer fight and gave up her will to live. She did not benefit a single thing from being under conservatorship, however the lawyers made out very nicely. In eight months, they successfully billed her estate for $320,000. And the conservator billed a nice, high hourly rate for doing absolutely nothing. She threatened my mother on a weekly basis that if Mom did not cooperate with the her, she would sell my mother's house and have her placed into a nursing home. Conservatorship is nothing more than lies, threats, deceit, theft, collusion, intimidation and an all around disaster. It completely steals one's Constitutional rights and freedoms and drains the estate while it treat the conservatee like yesterday's garbage. One member of my family who helped petition the court for conservatorship stated that she "didn't care if being under conservatorship killed Mom". Sorry to say, she got her wish. We can no longer afford to remain ignorant or apathetic. It is time for the people to have their voices heard. Now is the time to stand up and fight against this unbelievable horror or, you can wait until it's your turn and watch as you lose your Constitutional rights and freedoms. By the way, my mother had a 30 year living trust that was thrown out by the court in less than 5 minutes and re-written to the wishes of the petitioning party and their attorneys. Rosalind Cruz Lund My mother died of elder abuse by isolation i.e emotional, and psychological. The abusers were my 2 older sisters. Sasheen Littlefeather who refused Marlon Brando's Oscar was the primary caretaker who abused our mother by verbal abuse as well. Three years of welfare checks by San Rafael PD, SRFD, APS. The system failed by calling it a civil matter even though my mother was calling me screaming for help which I recorded. Officer Tom Sabido said he didn't know his limits and needed to consider his career. Social Worker Robert Cretti said it was a Family matter even though his was ordered to appear before a superior court judge regarding isolation and family mediation. "Sasheen Littlefeather refused." As a mandate reporter I filled out the form for elder abuse by isolation and APS did nothing. After three years I found my mother by accident at Marin General Hospital after taking a friend to ER. Divine Intervention. Mom's head and neck was physically bent down to her chest unable to hold her head up due to depression,and being torn apart as a human being. Isolation is a crime and a SPIRITUAL DEATH IS MURDER. Family members should be brought to superior court just like domestic abuse and proceed with criminal charges. One morning she was not being watched by the owner of the care home, she got up and went to the kitchen got near the stove and burned her arm, hand and torso. The owner who was supposed to be watching her saw her put her in a cold shower and later called my sister stating that she had hurt herself on the bedrail but was fine. My sister later came and found she had been badly burned. The caretaker lied again. My mom was later taken to the emergency room where she was diagnosed with third degree burns and was hospialized for a few weeks. She could not advocate for herself, she was a vunerable victim to the awful neglect and abuse. My mother was never able to stand again--the trama effected her in so many ways. The Police were called no criminal charges were filed and the owner of the facility had no insurance, she had the home in someone else's name. She continued to run her care home with absolutly no consequences. We later learned from the attorney we hired that another elderly woman had fallen off the porch at night; she was not being watched--again they lied about the truth. Marjorie H.
