Kelly Vandevelde	Just think about it, that could be your mother, father, sister, brother... etc..
Vicki Cleveland This can not be allowed to happened. We will all become older and vulnerable some day. These people deserve our utmost love, respect and the best care we can provide for them.
Barbara K My 89-year-old father was abused in the last Nursing Home. They would tie him to a wheelchair (knowing he couldn't sit up), I found him slumped over, he said for 2 hours, and could see where he had vomited on the floor. The door to his room was shut and the other patient's TV was on full blast (no one else was in the room). They purposely made it so they could not hear my daddy call them for help. I also went there and found that again his door was shut, after knocking, I could barely hear his voice and went into the room and found that they had left him sitting on the toilet for the past 3 hours. He was again vomiting. They would put his food tray on the windowsill 12 feet away from him, knowing he couldn't feed himself, and of course he couldn't reach the tray. He could not sit up, stand up, or even feed himself. He went there from the hospital with a feeding tube in him, he vomited it out on the way, they had instructions to re-insert the tube, but they didn't. They litterally let him starve to death. The last day there, the 16th day, the nursing home called me that he was hemhoraging from the bowels and was being taken to the hospital by ambulance. The nursing home was 50 miles away from us, as Medicare made it so that patients can be put into nursing homes up to 50 miles away. I contacted brothers and sisters and we all met at the ER in the hospital. The doctor told me that his lungs are filling with fluid and I had to sign a DNR, as he wouldn't want to continue with this kind of life. The nursing home had the nerve to send a bill for the 16 days he was there. Just told them that due to the poor care they gave him, that I consider them the cause of his death and there are no funds for paying for that time, as he was no longer alive and his SS check had to be returned. When my husband went to pick up his clothing and personal belongings, they were mostly gone, even his shoes were not there. We saw an attorney about filing a lawsuit, but he said that he wouldn't take the case because of his age, 89. So I told him that it is okay for the nursing home to take such awful care of him that they caused his death just because he was 89 years old. That nursing home should be shut down, it is in Fremont, Michigan, in case you are wondering.
Amy Matthews	Please help these vulnerable people they need protection from the many abuses that they are subjected to. With modern medicine today and the new technologies people are living longer than ever before and they need to be protected. We have a duty to our elders and we will one day be in thier shoes. Please please I ask your help. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Lisa Goldmann	It's a shame to see that what we believe is a system to safeguard an elder person's future is in fact a way for attorneys and court appointed gurdians to rape seniors of the assets that it has taken them a lifetime to acquire. All done legally under the quise that it is in the elder's best interest. These people are left with nothing except basic care and thier loved ones are barred (by court order) from contact. They are left with nothing under a state monitored "house arrest" by an "agency" that reaps the profits along with all of the crooked attorneys and so called "guardians". Disgusting!
